Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic) won the title of the women’s tennis tournament WTA 250 Jiangxi Open in Nanchang with a prize pool of 259,303 USD. In the final, the Czech tennis player defeated her compatriot and third-seeded Marie Bouzkova by 2-1 (1:6, 7:6, 7:6) in a match that lasted 3 hours and 33 minutes.
The 27-year-old Katerina Siniakova, who is WTA No 60, created an extraordinary turnover after losing the first set 1:6, trailing for almost the entire match and saved three match points – one in the second set and two in the third.
The both players made a 47 shot rally during her battle and the match lasted the exhausted three hours and a half.
In the decisive third set, Marie Bouzkova, like in the second set, led by 5:3, but allowed a break and Katerina Siniakova equalized to 5:5, and in the tiebreak she won at her first opportunity.
The title is the career fifth of Katerina Siniakova, and she will return to the Top 50 in the singles rankings next week.
