Katerina Siniakova won her first title on grass at the WTA 250 Bad Homburg Open

Katerina Siniakova won the title at the WTA 250 Bad Homburg Open with a prize pool of 259,303 USD. In the final, the Czech defeated the Italian Lucia Bronzetti by 2-0 (6:2, 7:6) in 96 minutes and won the fourth trophy of her career.

Katerina Siniakova gave only two games to her rival in the first set, and at the beginning of the second the match was interrupted due to rain. The win was an excellent end to the week for the world’s number one in doubles, who was playing just her third tournament after recovering from a wrist injury.

Katerina Siniakova is world’s No 52 in singles and has not won a match since the opening match at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open. In Miami, she injured her right wrist in the first round against Claire Liu and did not play until Roland Garros.

Katerina Siniakova’s only hesitation came when she served for the win at 5:3 in the second set. The Czech made two double faults and two unforced errors to lose serve. In the tiebreak, however, she led by 6-2, Lucia Bronzetti saved three match points, but Katerina Siniakova closed the match with 7-5 and took her first title on grass. She finished the match with 16 winners and 27 unforced errors.
