Katerina Siniakova is out of the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir

The seventh-seeded Katerina Siniakova is out of the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir after losing by 0-2 (5:7, 2:6) to American Claire Liu in a match that lasted an hour and a half.

The Czech player, who won her third WTA singles title last week, saved two set points in the first set but this was not enough. The first set started with two breaks from each player and running absolutely equal to the 12th game when Katerina Siniakova was serving. She gave a set point to her opponent at 30-40 but saved it. After that loved two advantages and again saved a set point. Thus, finally, Claire Liu realized the third break/set point she had and took a lead.

In the second set, the American made 4 breaks again only one for her Czech opponent and finally won the match.

In the next round, Claire Liu will face the winner between the top-seeded Ons Jabeur and Evgeniya Rodina.

In other matches of the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir, Alize Cornet (France) defeated Harriet Dart (UK) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4), while Elise Mertens (Belgium) eliminated Despina Papamichail (Greece) by 2-1 (5:7, 6:1, 6:2).

The French player Diane Parry advanced to the quarter-finals after the Italian Lucrezia Stefanini retired after injury in the 2nd set.
