Karolina Pliskova is another top-seeded player to leave Tokyo Olympics without a medal, after being defeated in the third round by Camila Giorgi with 2-0 (6:4; 6:2).

The Italian Camila Giorgi needed an hour and a quarter to win versus the Czech player.

The match started with a game taken on zero by Karolina Pliskova, but Camila Giorgi broke her next serving game and took an early advantage. However, she failed to defend the break and the Czech tennis star and runner-up of Wimbledon made result 2:2.
