Karna Solskjaer made Manchester United Women debut

Karna Solskjaer made her official debut for the Manchester United women’s soccer team and she and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the first father and daughter to play for the club. The 19-year-old Norwegian came on as a substitute in the 85th minute of the game against Bridgwater United FC, won by the Red Devils with 2-0. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who watched the match, was fired as manager of the men’s team in November. In his football career, he scored 126 goals for Manchester United, the most important of which was in the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old Karna Solskjaer got the opportunity to play the first match for the Manchester United Women, after scoring in the girls’ 5-0 victory against Aston Villa at the weekend.

“The fact is that her father is famous, but she wants to build her own name. It was a privilege for us to have Ole as a coach and a footballer before that, but that has nothing to do with him. The focus here is Karna”, said the coach of Manchester United Women, Marc Skinner.

Sunday’s victory means United have reached the fifth round of the FA Cup, joining the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester in progressing
