Olympic 100m champion and 200m silver medalist at this summer’s Paris Games, Julien Alfred (Saint Lucia) has also added the Diamond 100m trophy to her collection. The athlete from Saint Lucia prevailed in the final tournament of the circuit in Brussels tonight with 10.88 sec (0.2 m/sec). During the winter, Julien Alfred also won the world gold in the 60m indoor in Glasgow.
Dina Asher-Smith (Great Britain) was the only competitor in this final to try to challenge the Olympic champion, but she ended up finishing second in 10.92 sec. Marie-Josee Ta Lou came third with 11.05 sec.
Julien Alfred was also a silver medalist in the 100m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She is the joint North American indoor record holder for the 60m, and was the first woman in NCAA history to break the seven-second barrier over the 60 m. She is a three-time individual NCAA Division I champion.
