Julien Alfred won the 100m gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics

Julien Alfred is undoubtedly having the year of his dreams. The athlete from Saint Lucia, who won the world title in the 60m indoor in Glasgow this winter, also won the Olympic title in the 100m in Paris. Julien Alfred triumphed with a new national record of 10.72 sec (-0.1 m/s) and certainly became a superstar for his small homeland.

The sprinter from Saint Lucia launched herself from the starting block and gave absolutely no chance to her rivals in the rain. It is also the first Olympic medal for Saint Lucia in history.

Budapest world champion Sha’Carri Richardson, who was ruled out of the Tokyo Games, got partial revenge and won the silver medal in 10.87 sec. The American was pointed to as the big favorite for the gold medal. Her compatriot Melissa Jefferson fought for the bronze with 10.92 sec.
