Julien Alfred remained only 0.02 sec away from the world record in the women’s 60m

Julien Alfred remained only 2 hundredths away from the world record in the women’s 60m. The Saint Lucian sprinter won the NCAA Division I indoor championships in Albuquerque with a time of 6.94 sec, after running 6.96 sec in the heats. The 60m world record is 6.92 sec, held by Irina Privalova. Thus, Julien Alfred is now number 2 in the all-time ranking of the discipline.

Julien Alfred, a silver medalist in the 100m at last year’s Birmingham Commonwealth Games, also won the 200m in 22.01 sec.

Julien Alfred is a Saint Lucian sprinter. She won the silver medal in the 100m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Alfred is a four-time NCAA champion. She was the first woman in NCAA to break the seven-second barrier over the 60m.

Julien Alfred is a gold medalist from the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in 100m and silver medalist at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires at 100m.
