Julian Alfred won the world 60m indoor title in Glasgow earlier this month, but she has set her sights higher this summer. The sprinter from Saint Lucia wants to be among the medalists at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
“I don’t really pay attention to the media, but I have a lot of supporters at home who give messages to my family and they pass on to me. I definitely want a medal in Paris – gold, silver or bronze at 100 and 200 meters”, Julian Alfred, 22.
Last year, she set US college records after winning the 60m and 200m titles in 6.94 sec and 22.01 sec, respectively.
Julien Alfred was also a silver medalist in the 100m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She is the joint North American indoor record holder for the 60m. She was the first woman in NCAA to break the seven-second barrier over the 60m. Julien Alfred is a three-time individual NCAA Division I champion.
