Julia Simon is the new Biathlon World Cup champion

France has its seventh (in men and women in total) champion in the Biathlon World Cup.

Denise Herrmann-Wick (Germany) won the last sprint for the season in Holmenkollen. However, the afternoon on the outskirts of Oslo turned out to be even happier for French biathlon competitor Julia Simon, who for the first time in her career triumphs with the great crystal globe.

Former French champions were Patrice Bailly-Salins, Anne Briand, Emmanuelle Claret, Sandrine Bailly, Raphael Poiree (4 times), Martin Fourcade (7 times), and Quentin Fillon Maillet.

Without a single mistake in the shooting, Denise Herrmann-Wick traveled a 7.5-kilometer distance for 21:06.5 min. She was faster by just 3.5 sec than Swedish Hanna Oeberg and 33.1 sec from another representative of the Scandinavian country – Anna Magnusson.

Chloe Chevalier (France) missed the podium with just 0.3 sec and her compatriot Julia Simon ended the fifth 39.3 sec from the winner’s time.

The 26-year-old Julia Simon, who is a two-time world champion, ended as the most pre-ranked biathlete with a pass in the shooting today. However, finishing in the area of the points was everything she needed to win the World Cup after securing the small Crystal Globe in the pursuit on Friday because of the dense fog over Oslo.

One race before the end Julia Simon has 1,048 points and an overwhelming advance of 171 points in front of the second Dorothea Wierer (Italy), who remained only 23rd. Third in the general ranking is another Italian – Lisa Vittozzi with 854 points, with 20 ahead of Denise Herrmann-Wick.

In the ranking for the small World Cup in the sprint, Denise Herrmann-Wick is the leader with 400 points. Second with 314 points is Dorothea Wierer and Julia Julia Simon is third with 295 points.
