Joyce Chepkemoi Tele (Kenya) won the Ljubljana Marathon. She prevailed in the race with a new course record of 2:20:17 hours.
The Kenyan long-distance runner beat the previous course record by 48 seconds, which was set by Zinash Gerado Senbeta (Eithiopia) last year. Joyce Chepkemoi Tele, who was sentenced for 18 months in 2022 by National Anti-Doping Agency of Germany (NADA), made her third appearance on the roads this year after participating at the Mexico City Half Marathon in July and Buenos Aires Half marathon in August..
Gadise Mulu Demissie (Ethiopia) came second in a new personal best of 2:20.59 hours and with Zinash Gerado Senbeta was third in 2:24.04 hours.
Over 15,000 people from 86 countries started the Ljubljana Marathon in the three distances – 10km, 21km and 42km, with nearly 3,000 of them taking part in the longest.
