Jil Teichmann qualified for the second round of the WTA 250 Tallinn Open

The 9th-seeded Swiss tennis player Jil Teichmann qualified for the second round of the WTA 250 Tallinn Open after a straight-set victory versus Laura Siegemund (Germany). The Swiss player had some problems getting the second set, despite winning by 2-0 (6:4, 7:6) in 2:11 hours.

Jil Teichmann made an early break in the first set, taking a lead of 3:0, but her opponent did not retreat and equalized to 3:3. The set was running game-for-game until 10th game, which was actually the longest in the set. Laura Siegemund was serving and gave two break points to her Swiss opponent, but succeeded to save them and put the game in deuce. Jil Teichmann missed one more break/set point, until reaching finally to the successful shot and won by 6:4.

The second set started again with a break and 3:0 advance for Jil Teichmann. At 5:3, the Swiss player was serving for the match, but Laura Siegemund broke her on 15 and then equalized the games to 5:5. Thus, the set went into a tiebreak, which was finally won by Jil Teichmann by 9-7.

In the next round, 9th-seeded Jil Teichmann will face Ysaline Bonaventure, who defeated the American Shelby Rogers by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4).

The 7th-seeded Barbora Krejcikova also made a fantastic start at the WTA 250 Tallinn Open after defeating Ajla Tomljanovic (Australia) by 2-0 (6:1, 7:6). In the next round, she will face Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine), who defeated Bernarda Pera (USA) by 2-1 (6:4, 4:6, 6:3).

Tereza Martincova also advanced to the second round after a straight-set victory versus Mirjam Bjorklund (Sweden).
