Jessica Pegula is the first finalist of the WTA 1000 Canadian Open

The 4th-seeded Jessica Pegula (USA) is the first finalist of the WTA 1000 Canadian Open after eliminating the top-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland) by 2-1 (6:2, 6:7, 6:4) in 2:32 hours of play. The American definitely stayed better on the court and either having quite strong competitor succeeded to advance to the final of the Masters’ tournament.

The first set started with exchange of break, as both player were unsecure at their first serve, which caused total six breaks, 4 in the account of Jessica Pegula and 2 in the account of Iga Swiatek, which gave the result of the first set of 6:2 in favor of the American player.

The second set, was again with plenty of breaks for both players, who made total of 8 breaks (4 for each of them). Thus, the set entered into a tiebreak, which Iga Swiatek won by 7-4 and thus equalized the result.

The third set was not much different from the other with again total of 5 breaks, but this time in favor of Jessica Pegula, who won the set by 6:4 and thus qualified for the final of the WTA 1000 Canadian Open.

The other semi-finals is between the 3rd-seeded Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) and Liudmila Samsonova (Russia).
