Jessica Pegula faces Aryna Sabalenka for the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open title

American tennis player Jessica Pegula advanced to the final of the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open tennis tournament after defeating Paula Badosa (Spain) by 2-1 (6:2, 3:6, 6:3).

The match was stopped in the second set at a 4:3 game in favor of the Spanish tennis player due to rain, and after the resumption, the former world’s number two made a break, with which she equalized the set.

However, in the third set Jessica Pegula first fended off three break points in the third game, and then made a break for 5:3, which turned out to be the only one in the last part of the match.

In the final, the American tennis player will face Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus), who earlier in the day defeated the to-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:3).

For Jessica Pegula, the victory over Paula Badosa was the ninth in a row in the last two weeks. If she also wins against Aryna Sabalenka, she will become the first woman since Evonne Goolagong in 1973 to win back-to-back Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open titles.
