Jelena Ostapenko won the WTA 500 Adelaide International title and returned to the world’s Top 10

Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) convincingly defeated Daria Kasatkina (Russia) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2) to win the title of the WTA 500 Adelaide International with a prize fund of 922,573 USD.

Jelena Ostapenko, who is 4th-seeded, made five breaks in the match, being more convincing than Daria Kasatkina on her first serve as well as on the return. The first set started with a very prolonger game in favor of the Latvian tennis player, who also made a break in the second game to lead by 2:0. Daria Kasatkina Immediately returned the break, but Jelena Ostapenko took a lead after another break in the 6th game and did not lost her lead by the end of the set and won it by 6:3.

However, Jelena Ostapenko won he next two games and closed the set at 6:2 to win the match and the prestigious title.

Starting Monday, Jelena Ostapenko, the 2017 Roland Garros champion, will return to the Top 10 of the rankings for the first time in more than 5 years. The success of Jelena Ostapenko, 26, in WTA 500 Adelaide International was achieved through victories against Sorana Cirstea (Romania), Caroline Garcia (France), Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) and Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia).
