Latvian Jelena Ostapenko won the title at the WTA 500 Dubai Tennis Championships with a prize fund of 703,500 USD. The Latvian won convincingly in the final over Russian Veronika Kudermetova with 2-0 (6:0, 6:4) in just one hour and 5 minutes.
Jelena Ostapenko was better in all phases of the game, making with ease 6 breaks, which put total domination of the match.
The Latvian tennis player won 64% of the 1st Serve Points and 61% of the Service Points. She was the better on the court and won with ease the title, which is her fourth WTA title.
Jelena Ostapenko has career-high WTA rankings of world No 5 in singles, achieved on 19 March 2018. She won the 2017 French Open singles title, becoming the first player from Latvia to win a Grand Slam singles tournament and the first unseeded player to win the French Open since 1933. In addition to her singles career, she has played as a member of the Latvia Fed Cup team. She has won seven singles and eight doubles titles on the ITF Women’s Circuit.
