Jasmine Paolini (Italy) qualified for the second round of the hard court tournament WTA 500 Zhengzhou Open with a prize pool of 780,637 USD. The Italian player defeated Moyuka Uchijima (Japan) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) in 1:24 hours of play.

Jasmine Paolini recorded three breaks in the first set and one break in the second set to get the win and qualify for the second round of the tournament, where will face the 6th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France).

The 10th-seeded Donna Vekic (Croatia) also qualified for the next round after defeating Nao Hibino (Japan) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2) and will face Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine), who eliminated Diana Shnaider (Russia) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2).

Another Ukrainian player, Anhelina Kalinina, also advanced to the second round of the tournament after eliminated Ellen Perez (Australia) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:3) and will face the winner between the 9th-seeded Russian player Veronika Kudermetova and her qualifier compatriot Vera Zvonareva.

Qinwen Zheng (China) won versus Kateryna Volodko by 2-0 (6:4, 6:), while Lucia Bronzetti (Italy) eliminated Hanyu Guo (China) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:1).
