The Italians Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani won the women’s doubles title at the tennis tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympics. The third seeded Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani defeated the Russian tennis players Diana Shnaider and Mirra Andreeva competing under a neutral flag in the final after a comeback with 2-1 (2:6, 6:1, 10-7). The match lasted an hour and 25 minutes.
Diana Shnaider and Mirra Andreeva got off to a more solid start and broke in the fourth game for a 3:1 lead, which they later extended to 4:1. The Italians took another game, but the Russians closed the set with a second break for 6:2.
Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani, finalists at this year’s French Open, made a much better start to the second set, breaking in the first game. At 2:1 in their favor, the Italian tennis players realized a series of 4 successful games and after 6:1 they equalized the result in sets. Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani took a 7-3 lead in the ensuing tiebreak and closed out the match 10-7 on their first match point.
In the match for the third place, the Spaniards Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo defeated Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova from the Czech Republic by 2-0 (6:2, 6:2) in 74 minutes of play. Eighth seeds Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo won Spain’s fifth women’s doubles medal at the Olympics. It was only their second tournament as a pair, having previously won the title in the Spanish capital Madrid in May on their debut as a tandem.
