Jasmine Paolini advanced to the second round of the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir

The top-seeded Jasmine Paolini (Italy) advanced to the second round of the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir with a prize money of 259,303 USD. The Italian tennis player defeated Alize Cornet (France) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2) in 1:20 hours of play.

The first set passed through several turnovers, but finally with three breaks against two for her opponent, Jasmine Paolini won it by 6:4. The second set was under the control of the Italian tennis player at the beginning, who made an early break to take a comfortable lead, but struggled in the 7th game and saved two breakpoints before winning her serve to lead by 5:2. After that, Jasmine Paolini was fueled by her success and made another break to close the set by 6:2.

In the next round, Jasmine Paolini will face the Croatian teenager Petra Marcinko, who eliminated Marina Bassols (Spain) after 2-0 (7:6, 6:2).

The second-seeded Elise Mertens (Belgium) qualified for the second round of the tournament after defeating Alexandra Eala (Philippines) after 2-0 (7:5, 6:0).

The 4th-seeded Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine) also advanced to the second round after defeating Chloe Paquet (France) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) and will face Claire Liu (USA), who eliminated Emina Bektas (USA) after 2-0 (6:2, 7:6).

Katarzyna Kawa (Poland) eliminated the third-seeded Martina Trevisan (Italy) after 2-1 (6:3, 3:6, 7:5) and in the next round will play versus another Italian – Lucrezia Stefanini.

In the other matches from the day, the Russian teenager Erika Andreeva also advanced to the second round after defeating Darja Semenistaja (Latvia) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:0), while Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (Spain) eliminated the 7th-seeded Magdalena Frech (Poland) after 2-1 (6:2, 0:6, 6:4) and the 6th-seeded Lucia Bronzetti (Italy) won her match versus Kristina Kucova (Slovakia) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:1).

Mai Hontama (Japan) defeated Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov (Spain) by 2-1 (4:6, 6:4, 6:0) and Katarina Zavatska (Ukraine) eliminated Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (Spain) after 2-0 (6:4, 6:4).
