Jamie Anderson reassured her fans that she was feeling well despite losing the snowboarding title

American snowboarder Jamie Anderson reassured her fans that she was feeling well, although she failed to defend her Olympic title in the slopestyle discipline at the Beijing 2022 Games on Sunday.

“I wanted to have fun here and you should know that everything is fine, don’t worry”, said Jamie Anderson in an Instagram video after finishing ninth in the final run. “Of course, I’m a little sad, I wasn’t able to show my best today”. said the 31-year-old American, who said she was happy for the medalists.

Zoi Sadowski-Synnott of New Zealand won the gold medal, which brought her country its first title at the Winter Olympics.

“Zoi smashed everyone on her last start and this is probably the best moment in snowboarding I’ve seen”, said Jamie Anderson, praising compatriot Julia Marino, who won the silver medal, and Australian Tess Coady, who finished third.

Jamie Anderson won a gold medal in Sochi 2014, as well as in PyeongChang 2018. She admitted that it was difficult to lose the title, but spoke very kindly of her young rivals.

“This generation of snowboarders is so amazing that I’m proud of all of you”, said she.

Jamie Anderson is an American professional snowboarder. She won the gold medal in the inaugural Women’s Slopestyle Event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and repeated the feat at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, making her the first female snowboarder to win more than one Olympic gold medal. She has won gold medals in slopestyle at the Winter X Games in consecutive years in 2007/8 and 2012/3. She has 25 total medals: eighteen gold, five silver, and two bronze.
