Kiki Van Zanten is a Jamaican footballer who plays as a forward for Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Jamaica women’s national team. She is a three-time All-ACC Academic Team member (2020, 2021, 2022) and ACC Offensive Player of the Week. Kiki Van Zanten played for the United States junior national teams before in 20122 was called for Jamaica. She represented the team at the Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. She scored the game-winner in extra time which earned Jamaica the bronze medal and secured their place in the Olympic playoffs.
Kalyssa Priscilla “Kiki” van Zanten was born on August 25, 2001, in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, United States. She was born to an American father of Dutch descent and a Jamaican mother. She started playing football at an early age and quickly showed her talent. United States U17 played for United States U15 when was first called in 2016. In 2017-2018, she played for United States U17.
Kiki Van Zanten started her college career in Notre Dame Fighting Irish, where played 75 matches and scored 21 goals. In her first season with the team, she played in 20 games and made two starts in her first season, ranked third on the team in goals (4 goals) and fourth on the team in points (8 points) over 805 minutes played. She scored her first collegiate goal in the 87th minute on the road in the 1-0 win over Michigan. Kiki Van Zanten scored the game’s only goal in the 1-0 home win over Saint Louis in the first round of the NCAA Championship.
She played 12 games as a sophomore in the 2020 season and finished the season with 7 goals and 14 points in just 443 minutes played. Kiki Van Zanten was named to the Third Team All-ACC following the fall portion of the season and was named to the All-ACC Academic team following the spring season.
In 2021, as a junior, she played in 20 games, logging over 514 minutes. She finished the season with three goals and one assist to total seven points.
In 2022, Kiki Van Zanten made her senior debut. She was awarded ACC Offensive Player of the Week (September 13) and started all 23 games for the Irish as an attacking midfielder.
She made her senior debut for Jamaica in a 4–0 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifiers win against Bermuda in February 2022. She was named in the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship final squad and represented Jamaica at the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Championship. In July 2022 she scored her debut goal, a winner against Costa Rica to grant Jamaica a third-place finish in the competition.
Kiki Van Zanten represented Jamaica in the Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand, where the team reached the Round of 16 and she was in the starting lineup of the team.
