Australia’s Jakara Anthony won the Olympic gold in the Women’s Moguls Freestyle Skiing at the Beijing 2022 Games. The 23-year-old athlete won unquestionably with the best performance in all stages of the competition, consolidating her dominance in the finals with perfect riding and first place with a total of 83.09 points. This is the first Olympic gold for Australia in this discipline for women.
“I know that I’m capable of skiing like that”, said Jakara Anthony after the victory. “I was able to let myself do that tonight which was something really special and something I take a lot of pride in”, added she.
The second was the American Jaelin Kauf with 80.28 points. She made the fastest descent in the final, but received fewer points in the other elements and finished with silver.
The third is the Russian Anastasia Smirnova with 77.72 points.
Defending champion PyeongChang 2018 Perrine Laffont from France entered the competition as a favorite but remained at the foot of the medals with fourth place in the superfinal with a total of 77.36 points.
The other favorite, 17-year-old Japanese Anri Kawamura, this season’s World Cup leader, finished fifth with 77.12 points.
