Ivet Lalova-Collio was elected to the Commission of the World Athletics

The Bulgarian sprinter Ivet Lalova-Collio was elected to the Athletes’ Commission of the World Athletics, the headquarters announced.

Ivet Lalova-Collio became one of six newcomers to the 12-member body, receiving the most votes (615) in the Eugene (USA) vote. The other new elected members are: Anna Ryzhykova (Ukraine, 607 votes), Lea Sprunger (Switzerland, 585 votes), Lisanne de Witte (Netherlands, 560 votes), Matthew Hughes (Canada, 555 votes), Toshikazu Yamanishi (Japan, 494 votes). They will replace Inaki Gomez (Canada), Kim Collins (Saint Kitts and Nevis), Adam Kszczot (Poland), Thomas Rohler (Germany), Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta (Serbia), and Benita Willis (Australia).

“The opinion of the athletes has been very important in the management of our structure for the last three years through the Athletes’ Commission and we appreciate the important contribution of the commission to the decisions at the level of the Executive Committee. I want to welcome the six new members and thank the six leaving for their work for our sport. There will be a new election in Budapest next year and I want to encourage more athletes to consider becoming part of the decision-making process in our sport”, said the World Athletics President, Sebastian Coe.
