Ivet Goranova won the gold in the Kumite under 55kg at the Karate Grand Prix in Bratislava

Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Ivet Goranova won a gold medal in the Kumite under 55kg at the Karate Grand Prix in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Bulgarian karateka recorded four consecutive victories in the competition, and in the final she won with 5:3 points over Sofia Barani of Hungary.

Bulgaria finished the tournament with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Georgi Matuski won silver in the individual category under 21, Petar Mihailov (Kumite cadets up to 52 kg and kumite juniors up to 55 kg), and Vladislav Vakarelov (Kumite cadets up to 63 kg) finished third.

The Bulgarian team in Bratislava included a total of 25 players.

Ivet Goranova is a Bulgarian karateka. She won the gold medal in the women’s 55 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She also won the gold medal in the women’s 55 kg event at the 2019 European Games held in Minsk, Belarus.
