The reigning long jump world champion Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta continued her winning streak at the Xiamen Diamond League in China. The 33-year-old Serbian, who won gold in Budapest with a season’s world best of 7.14m, landed at 6.88m (-0.4m/sec) in her best fifth attempt today. This is also a new meeting record as it is being held for the first time.
The second place in the sector was taken by Marthe Koala (Burundi) with 6.79m (-0.1 m/sec). The Olympic and world medalist Ese Brume (Nigeria) earned the bronze with 6.71m (-0.6 m/sec).
Agate de Sousa (Sao Tome & Principe) with 6.54m and Brooke Buschkuehl (Australia) with 6.52m completed the Top 5, but remained without medals.
Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta is a Serbian long jumper, the 2023 World champion, a two-time World indoor champion, a two-time European champion, a three-time European indoor champion and a four-time Diamond League Trophy Winner. Considering her achievements and longevity, she is regarded as one of the best all-time female long jumpers, with her indoor 7.24m jump ranked 3rd in all-time records.
