The women’s national volleyball team of Italy qualified without any problems for the semifinals of the European Championship. The team led by Davide Mazzanti won versus Russia by 3-0 (25:20, 25:8, 25:15) in a match of the quarter-finals of Eurovolley 2021, played last night in front of about 1,200 spectators in the Stark Arena in Belgrade.
Thus, Italy will play for the second time in a row in the final four of the Old Continent Championship after 2019. In the semifinals, Italy will argue with the Netherlands, which last night prevailed over Sweden with a 3-0 in the quarterfinals in Plovdiv. The match will be on Friday (September 3).
Russia, on the other hand, is eliminated in the quarterfinals for the third consecutive European Championship.
Once again, Paola Egonu (1 block and 52% efficiency in attack) and Elena Pietrini (1 ace, 44% efficiency in attack) became the most useful for Italy with 15 and 13 points for the victory.
For the Russians, the young talent Arina Fedorovtseva finished with only 7 points.
