Italy qualified for the final of the Paris Olympics women’s volleyball tournament

The Italian women volleyball national team qualified for a historic first Olympic final. Led by the legendary Julio Velasco, the team decisively beat European champions Turkey by 3-0 (25:22, 25:19, 25:23) in the second semi-final match of the Paris 2024 Games, played at the South Paris Arena 1.

In this way, the Italian women volleyball national team reaches the Olympic final for the first time, after the best so far and qualifying for the quarter-finals.

In the battle for the title, Italy will face the defending champion team of the USA, which earlier today won very hard and dramatically over Brazil with a 3-2. The big final between Italy and the USA will be on the last day of the Olympics, on Sunday (August 11).

Turkey will play for the bronze medals of the Olympics for the first time. The bronze medal match against Brazil is on Saturday (August 10).

A great match for Italy was played by Paola Egonu, who was above everyone and scored 24 points (1 block, 2 aces and 49% attack efficiency) for the victory. Myriam Sylla added 12 more points for the win.

For Turkey, Melissa Vargas was the only one with double-digit assets, realizing 17 points (40% attack efficiency).
