Italy gave only a game to China in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Volleyball World Cup

European women’s volleyball champion Italy qualified for the semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup in the Netherlands and Poland. Davide Mazzanti-led team gave only a game and prevailed over China by 3-1 (25:16, 25:22, 13:25, 25:17) in the quarter-final, played tonight in front of 4000 spectators in the Omnisport hall in Apeldoorn.

Thus, Italy reached the final four of the Women’s World Volleyball Championships for the third time in a row and for the 5th time in total. In the semi-final, Italy await the winner of the quarter-final between Olympic runners-up Brazil and Japan. The semi-final match will be on Thursday (October 12) in Apeldoorn.

For its part, China is taking a step back after the bronze medal at the 2018 World Cup. The Chinese women will not play for honors for the first time since 2010.

Above all for Italy was the star Paola Egonu with a great 29 points (2 blocks and 50% attack success rate) for the victory.
