Irish athlete Rhasidat Adeleke moved to the Top 20 in the all-time 400m rankings

The Irish athlete Rhasidat Adeleke moved to 20th on the all-time world rankings in the outdoor 400m after winning the US college title in the event. The 20-year-old Rhasidat Adeleke improved her own national record by 0.34 sec after winning in 49.20 sec in Texas.

American star Britton Wilson, who was the main favorite for the first place, came second with 49.64 sec.

Rhasidat Adeleke is an Irish sprinter of Nigerian ancestry. She won the 100m and 200m at the 2021 Tallinn European U20 Championships. She was the first Irish woman to break the 50-second barrier in the 400m. She holds six Irish national records (60m indoors, 200m indoors and out, 300m indoors, and 400m indoors and out).

In August 2022, Rhasidat Adeleke placed fifth in the 400m final at the European Championships held in Munich, setting an Irish record of 50.53 sec.
