The president of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation and head coach of the national team, Irina Viner, thanked everyone who supported her after her suspension from competitions under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation.

“Regarding yesterday’s statements – I am very grateful to everyone who supports me. Dmitry Chernishenko and Tatyana Tarasova spoke yesterday. I thank them for their support. We will work for the future. Everything is fine with us, the children are working, and they are showing brilliant programs. We are already showing a new kind of art, we present great gala performances. And this happens in the background of the competitions. We only dream of peace, everything is normal”, said Irina Viner. “In the world of rhythmic gymnastics, there are no analogs of Russian athletes, coaches, and sports facilities. I am very happy to be here today. The gratitude of the President of the Russian Federation – what could be higher than that? Nothing. Thank you very much for supporting us athletes. For our country doing everything possible and impossible, so that our sport moves forward. There are no analogs to our gyms, to our gymnasts, to our coaches in the world”, added she.

Yesterday, the Disciplinary Committee of the Foundation for Gymnastics Ethics suspended Irina Viner from participating in international competitions for a period of two years

“Irina Viner is ineligible to participate in or be accredited in any role in international competition, including as a coach, head of delegation or other official role in any FIG event for a period of two years, which will take effect one day after the lifting of the federation’s measures related to the situation in Ukraine, or provided that the FIG measures are lifted within five years from the date of this decision”, said the statement of the International Gymnastics Federation.
