The Dutch speed skater Irene Schouten triumphed with the women’s mass start gold at the Calgary World Speed Skating Single Distances Championships 2024. The Dutch skater won the final with a time of 8:23.71 min after very strong final laps sprint
The silver went to Ivanie Blondin (Canada), who finished with a time of 8:23.81 min, and the bronze was to Marijke Groenewoud (Netherlands).
The three speed skaters had fierce competition in the final laps, as Marijke Groenewoud was leading, but the strong final meters of Irene Schouten brought her the gold.
Binyu Yang (China) and Laura Peveri (Italy) completed the Top 5, but missed the medals.
Meanwhile, at the women’s 1000m competition, Miho Takagi (Japan) earned the gold with a time of 1:12.83 min. Mei Han (China) remained with the silver on 0.44 sec delay and Jutta Leerdam (Netherlands) won the bronze on 0.45 sec behind the winner.
The Japanese speed skater Miho Takagi made fantastic performance at the Calgary World Speed Skating Single Distances Championships 2024, also winning the gold in women’s 1500m.
