Iga Swiatek withdrew from the WTA 500 Korea Open tennis tournament

The world’s number one Iga Swiatek (Poland) withdrew from the WTA 500 Korea Open tennis tournament in Seoul (Republic of Korea), which will be held from September 16 to 22, the organizers announced. The Polish tennis player is recovering from an injury and will not be ready for the race.

Earlier, Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina and Americans Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro also withdrew from the tournament. After numerous rejections, the top seed in the competition will be the Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina.

In 2023, Jessica Pegula won the tournament, defeating China’s Yuan Yue in the final.
