The top-seeded Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek started her participation at Wimbledon with a fast straight-set victory versus Lin Zhu (China) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:3). The world’s number one needed only 1:21 hours to end the match after recording 22 winners against 17 unforced errors for her opponent.

Iga Swiatek made two break in the first set and three in the second, which proved to be enough for her to get the victory.

In the next round she will face Sara Sorribes Tormo (Spain), who eliminated Martina Trevisan (Italy) after 2-0 (6:3, 6:1) in 1:41 hours on the court.

The 5th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) defeated Katie Volynets (USA) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3) and in the next round will play versus Leylah Fernandez (Canada), who eliminated Kateryna Baindl (Ukraine) after 2-1 (6:4, 4:6, 6:4).

The British tennis player Jodie Burrage also started her participation at Wimbledon successfully after defeating Caty McNally (USA) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:3). In the second round, she will face the 11th-seeded Daria Kasatkina (Russia), who eliminated Caroline Dolehide (UDA) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:4).

One of the biggest surprises of the day was the elimination of the 7th-seeded Cori Coco Gauff (USA), who lost to her compatriot and qualifier Sofia Kenin by 1-2 (4:6, 6:4, 2:6). In the second round, Sofia Kenin will face Xinyu Wang (China), who defeated Storm Hunter (Australia) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1).

The Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, who recently returned on the court after maternity, also had a successful start of her participation at Wimbledon, defeating the American tennis veteran and formed world’s number one Venus Williams by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3). In the second round she will face the 29th-seeded Elise Mertens (Belgium), who won her match versus Viktoria Hruncakova (Slovakia) by 2-0 (7:6, 6:2).

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion and 14th-seeded Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) defeated Katie Swan (Great Britain) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:2), while 23rd-seeded Magda Linette (Poland) eliminated Jil Teichmann (Switzerland) after 2-0 (6:3, 6:2) and Rebeka Masarova (Canada) won her opening match in the tournament versus Mayar Sherif (Egypt) by 2-1 (7:5, 3:6, 7:6).

Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic), who won her first WTA title on grass at WTA 250 Bad Homburg Open, continues with her strong performance, defeating Qinwen Zheng (China) by 2-0 (6:3, 7:5). In the next round she will face Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine), who eliminated Claire Liu (USA) by 2-1 (6:3, 3:6, 6:4).

Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic) defeated Simona Waltert (Switzerland) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:4).
