Iga Swiatek (Poland) qualified for the final of the WTA 1000 Madrid Open clay tennis tournament with a prize money of 8.7 million USD. The leader in the world rankings won easily by 2-0 (6:1, 6:3) against the 18th-seeded Madison Keys (USA) in just 71 minutes.
The Polish tennis player achieved a total of four breaks against the American and ended the match on her first match point.
“I felt I was playing really well. I didn’t think about what happened last year. I repeated this good result and it’s really great. I’m excited about my performance here and I’m happy to be in the title fight again”, commented Iga Swiatek after the end of the match against Madison Keys.
In her second consecutive final in the Spanish capital, Iga Swiatek will face current champion Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus), who eliminated Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan).
On her way to the semifinals, Madison Keys knocked out Cori Coco Gauff and Ons Jabeur, who are in the top 10 of the WTA rankings.
Earlier in 2024, Iga Swatek won the Masters’ tournaments in Indian Wells and Doha.
