The Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek, who will become the world’s number one on April 4, qualifies for the fourth round of the strong tennis tournament WTA 1000 Miami Open, which has a prize fund of 8.58 million USD.
The 20-year-old tennis player, who is Roland Garros 2020 champion, defeated Madison Brengle (USA) with 2-0 (6:0, 6:3). The second-seeded will compete with another American in the next round – Cori “Coco” Gauff, who eliminated Zhang Shuai (China) with 2-0 (7:6, 7:5).
The Spaniard Paula Badosa also easily overcame the third round, after winning by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2) over Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan). In the next round, the fifth-seeded Spanish player will be ahead of the pleasant surprise – the 16-year-old Czech talent Linda Fruhvirtová. The Czech reached success over 12th-seeded Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) with 2-0 (6:2, 3:0 and resignation).
The 28th-seeded Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic) won with 2-0 (7:5, 6:1) in her match versus Lauren Davis (USA) and in the fourth round will play with 21th-seeded Veronika Kudermetova. The Russian beat the American Shelby Rogers with 2-0 (6:1, 7:5).
The American Jessica Pegula continues ahead in the tournament after success over 17th-seeded Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) with 2-0 (6:3, 6:4).
