Iga Swiatek qualified for the semifinals of the WTA 500 Adelaide International to defend her title

The fifth-seeded Iga Swiatek, who is defending her title from the last year, qualified for the semifinals of the WTA 500 Adelaide International after eliminating Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka. The Polish player won by 2-1 (6:3, 2:6, 6:1) in a match that lasted almost two hours.

In the second set, Victoria Azarenka managed to find an answer to the attacks of the Polish player, tamed her aggression, and also made two breaks to win by 6:2. But last year’s champion entered the final set brilliantly. She started as she wanted – that is, with a break in the serving game of the Belarusian.

Then she won three consecutive games, including another break, which was really a big advantage. Victoria Azarenka took only one service game, but she didn’t have the strength for anything else.

In the semi-finals, Iga Swiatek will face top-seeded Australian player Ashleigh Barty, who qualified after a straight-set victory versus Sofia Kenin.

Elena Rybakina and Misaki Doi will play in the other semi-final.
