Iga Swiatek qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Qatar TotalEnergies Open

The top-seeded and world’s number one Iga Swiatek (Poland) qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Qatar TotalEnergies Open after smashing Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:0) in 76 minutes.

The match was equal in the beginning with both players exchanging a break and then winning their serve games until 4:4. In the ninth game of the first set the Polish tennis player received two break points and converted the second to take a lead by 5:4 and served for the set, winning it in the first opportunity on 15.

Since then, there was only one player in the court, as Iga Swiatek did not gave a single game to her opponent, who won only 8 points in the second set. The Polish tennis player won it on zero and qualified for the semi-finals of the prestigious tennis tournament, where will face Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic), who defeated Naomi Osaka (Japan) by 2-0 (7:6, 7:6)

The third-seeded Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) also qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Qatar TotalEnergies Open after defeating Leylah Fernandez (Canada) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2) and will face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia), who eliminated Danielle Collins (USA) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:4).
