Iga Swiatek qualified for the fourth round of Roland Garros

Iga Swiatek (Poland) qualified for the fourth round of the French Open / Roland Garros tennis championship. The top-seeded and world’s number one Polish tennis player, who has been defending the title for the past two seasons, prevailed by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2) against Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic) on the eve of her 23rd birthday.

Iga Swiatek, who had four breaks in total to just one for the unseeded Czech, advanced to the fourth round of Roland Garros for the sixth consecutive season. The Polish tennis player experienced serious difficulties and even saved a match point in the previous round against Naomi Osaka, and now the match lasted only 93 minutes.

In a battle for a place in the quarterfinals, Iga Swiatek will face Anastasia Potapova (Russia), who is ranked 41st in the world. The Russian player won by 2-1 (7:5, 6:7, 6:4) against Wang Xinyu (China).

Last season’s US Open champion Coco Gauff advanced to the fourth round. The third-seeded American player prevailed by 2-0 (6:2, 6:4) against the Ukrainian tennis talent Dayana Yastremska. The next opponent of the finalist from “Roland Garros” 2022 is Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy).

The 5th-seeded Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic) is also advanced to the next round of the tennis tournament. The Czech player, who triumphed at 2023 Wimbledon, eliminated Chloe Paquet (France) after 2-0 (6:1, 6:3). In the fourth round, Marketa Vondrousova will play against Olga Danilovic (Serbia). The Serbian tennis player won by 2-1 (0:6, 7:5, 7:6) against Donna Vekic (Croatia).

Eighth-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) defeated Leylah Annie Fernandez (Canada)by 2-0 (6:4, 7:6). In the next round, the Tunisian player will face Clara Tauson (Denmark), who eliminated Sofia Kenin (USA) after 2-0 (6:2, 7:5).
