Iga Swiatek is the first to qualify for the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia

World number one in women’s tennis Iga Swiatek (Poland) has become the first player to secure a place in the WTA Finals, which will be held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) between November 2 and 9.

In the final of the season, the top eight tennis players in singles will play at the closing WTA tournament. This year, the competition will offer a record prize money of 15.25 million USD, with further increases in 2025 and 2026. Saudi Arabia signed a three-year deal with the Women’s Tennis Association in April to host the competition.

The 23-year-old Iga Swiatek will defend her title from last season.

“It’s a great feeling to qualify for the WTA finals for the fourth year in a row”, said the Polish tennis player, who has won five titles during the season, including Roland Garros, and recently won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. “I hope the performance of the top eight contestants in the season will bring a lot of joy to fans around the world”, added Iga Swiatek.
