Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek said she learned a lot after becoming world number one as a teenager. She topped the WTA World Ranking for the first time in her career at the age of 20.
“I’ve been under a lot of pressure in recent seasons. But I would say the progress I’ve made has been pretty quick and I didn’t expect to be world number 1 last year. I had to deal with a lot of things and I grew up very quickly. At certain times, the pressure is difficult. On the other hand, it is part of our sport and we have to learn to adapt to it and focus on tennis. If I become the number one in the world again, I will be much better prepared”, said Iga Swiatek.
Iga Swiatek is currently world’s number two in the WTA ranking. The 22-year-old tennis player is the winner of four Grand Slam titles – Roland Garros in 2020, 2022 and 2023, as well as US Open in 2022). She also won 15 WTA tournaments.
This season Iga Swiatek triumphed with the titles at the WTA 500 Qatar TotalEnergies Open, WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, French Open / Roland Garros, WTA 250 BNP Paribas Poland Open, and WTA 1000 China Open. Also is the runner-up at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships
