Iga Swiatek for the Paris Olympics: Happiness, sadness, disappointment, satisfaction, dissatisfaction, pride

The world’s number one in women’s tennis Iga Swiatek (Poland) summarized the results of the Paris 2024 Olympics. At the Games in the French capital, the 23-year-old athlete won a bronze medal.

“Joy, happiness, sadness, disappointment, satisfaction, dissatisfaction, pride and many other emotions, many thoughts… I organize these games in my head and feel how full an experience it was for me. I will probably look back on these two weeks with greater distance in some time, but I can already see a lot now”, wrote the Polish tennis player in her social media account. “How much progress I have made since Tokyo! How much I can still do, how many opportunities I can take advantage of to become a better tennis player and person – above all. But the most important thing for me is probably how much I have experienced here. It was a special time and it would not have been possible if not for my team and my family. Thank you for what you do”, added she.

In the bronze medal match, Iga Swiatek defeated Anna Karolína Schmiedlova (Slovakia) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:1), while Qinwen Zheng (China) won gold.

“Qinwen, Donna, huge congratulations – I am grateful that I could share the Olympic podium with you”, writes also Iga Swiatek. “When I think about these games and tennis, something else comes to mind. I am damn proud of how wonderfully our sport showed itself in Paris. How many great matches, stories there were here, what wonderful accents we could see during the opening ceremony. Let’s appreciate it: tennis has an important place in the world of sports and I’m glad that my story is also a part of it”< finished she. Iga Swiatek is number one in the world, has five Grand Slam titles, and has won a total of 22 titles at the WTA level.
