The top-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland) qualified for the semi-finals of the Roland Garros after defeating Cori Coco Gauff (USA) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2) in 1:30 hours of play. The Polish tennis player, who is WTA No 1, 19 winners, while her opponent made 23 unforced errors, which brought the win in her favor.
Iga Swiatek took a lead in the first set by 3:1 after breaking the serve of her opponent, but Cori Coco Gauff returned the break and equalized. The set was running draw, until the 10th game, when the Polish tennis player made another break and closed the set at 6:4.
The second set was started equally again with Cori Coco Gauff losing three break point, until the 6th game when Iga Swiatek made another break and took a lead of 4:2. This broke her opponent and she was able to score only 2 points in the next two games and the set was closed at 6:2.
In the semi-finals, Iga Swiatek will face the 14th-seeded Brazilian player Beatriz Haddad Maia, who overturned Ons Jabeur (France) by 2-1 (3:6, 7:6, 6:1).
