Swedish biathlete Hanna Oberg won the 15km individual start in Kontiolahti, Finland to open the Biathlon Women’s World Cup season.
For the 27-year-old Hanna Oberg, who is the Olympic champion in the event from Pyeongchang 2018 and the world champion from Ostersund 2019, this is the first victory in a start at this distance in a World Cup competition.
The Swedish biathlete made only one mistake in the shooting and crossed the finish line with a time of 43:53.8 minutes.
The Norwegian Ingrid Tandrevold was second at 36.5 seconds, who conducted her shooting perfectly and took down all 20 targets, and the Italian Lisa Vittozzi finished third with one shooting error at 39.7 seconds.
Germany’s Vanessa Voigt with no fault and Denise Herrmann-Wick with two also found a place in the top six, with the two separated by France’s Julia Simon, who finished fifth with one miss in the shooting.
On Thursday, the Kontiolahti World Cup continues with the men’s and women’s relays.
