Great Britain, led by Eve Muirhead, triumphs with the title in the Olympic Women’s Curling Tournament at the Beijing 2022 Games.
In the final, the British beat Japan by 10-3 points after nine ends and for the second time in their history won gold after Salt Lake City 2002.
The key to the victory of the two-time world and three-time European champions was the seventh end, in which they scored four points and took the lead with 8-2.
The reigning Asian champion, Japan, achieved its best ranking at the Winter Games. So far, the Japanese have won only one Olympic medal in women’s curling – bronze from PyeongChang 2018.
Third place went to the defending team from Sweden four years ago, which yesterday defeated the world champion Switzerland with 9-7 points in the small final.
