Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye won the 100m gold at the Stockholm Diamond League

Gambian athlete Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye won the 100m gold at the Stockholm Diamond League. She won the crowning event with 11.15 sec (-0.8 m/s) and became the first Gambian athlete to achieve success in the Diamond League.

Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith (Ivory Coast) remained second on 0.01 sec behind the winner, while the bronze went to Brittany Brown (USA) with 11.18 sec.

The Top 5 in the women’s 100m at Stockholm Diamond League was completed by Zaynab Dosso (Italy) and Julia Henriksson (Sweden), while Boglarka Takacs (Hungary) was sixth.

The success of Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye was quite surprising, but she is three-time All-African Games winner and African champion. Also she had finished in Top 8 of the World Athletics Championships.
