Gina Luckenkemper won the gold on 100m at the European Athletics Championships

The battle for the honors of the 100m finals at the European Athletics Championships in Munich offered incredible emotions. After great final meters, the gold medal was won by the German athlete Gina Luckenkemper with 10.984 sec. She was just 5 thousandths of a second ahead of this winter’s world indoor 60m champion, Mujinga Kambundji (Switzerland) – 10.989 sec.

After the final, Gina Luckenkemper fell at high speed on the track and her knee began to bleed, requiring the intervention of the medical team.

Daryll Neita (Great Britain) won the bronze with 11.00 sec.

Dina Asher-Smith (Great Britain), defending her title from Berlin four years ago, was going well over the distance, but at one point she felt pain and slowed down, finishing in last eighth place in 16.03 sec.

Gina Luckenkemper is a German track and field athlete who competes in sprints. She won gold in the 200m at the 2015 European Junior Championships. She took part in the 100m at the 2015 and 2017 World Championships. The European gold is her biggest achievement in her career so far.
