German athlete Malaika Mihambo won the gold medal in the long jump at the Tokyo Olympics

The German athlete Malaika Mihambo won the gold medal in the long jump at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The reigning world champion in the discipline Malaika Mihambo triumphed with a personal achievement for the season of 7.00 meters, which she achieved in her last sixth attempt.

So she deprived 34-year-old Brittney Reese (USA) of a second Olympic title after London 2012.

The four-time world champion Brittney Reese finished with 6.97 meters and remained with the silver, as five years ago at the Games in Rio de Janeiro, reaching the podium at the third consecutive Olympics.

African Games champion Ese Brume (Nigeria) also finished third with 6.97 meters, but took bronze due to a weaker second-best attempt of 6.90 against 6.95 meters at Brittney Reese.

Ivana Spanovic of Serbia finished fourth with 6.91 meters and failed to fight for another Olympic medal after bronze in Rio 2016.
