Gina Luckenkemper is a German track and field athlete who competes in the sprints with her main events being 100m. She is the 2022 European champion in 100m and with the 4x100m relay of Germany, as well as the 2022 Eugene World Championships bronze medalist in the 4x100m.
Gina Luckenkemper was born on November 21, 1996, in Hamm, Germany. She was fond of sports and turned to athletics from an early age. She won gold in the 200m at the 2015 Eskilstuna European Junior Championships and bronze at the 2014 Eugene World Junior Championships.
She made her biggest senior achievement at the 2016 Amsterdam European Championships, winning the bronze at the 200m and 4x100m relay. Gina Luckenkemper participated at the Rio 2016 Olympics, but was just a step from the medals, finishing 4th with the 4x100m relays. Among her results for the year should be mentioned also the gold in Kassel German Championship and Berlin ISTAF at 200m, as well as the gold in Mannheim DLV-Olympiaverabschiedung and silver in Zurich Weltklasse, Letzigrund at 4x100m relays.
In 2017, she was second at the World Relays in Nassau, Bahamas at the 4x200m. She also took part in the 2017 London World Championships but finished 4th in the 4x100m relay. She won the gold in the Indoor Zeulenroda Meeting and Erfurt German Championships at 100m, as well as the gold in the Outdoor Leverkusen German U23 Championship, Hengelo FBK Games, and Berlin ISTAF at 4x100m relays.
Gina Luckenkemper made a fantastic season in 2018, winning the individual silver in the European Championships at 100m and the bronze at 4x100m relays. She won also the gold in the Leverkusen Bayer-Classics and Nurnberg German Championships at 100m. Thus she proved to be one of the top german athletes.
In 2019, she won the bronze at 4x100m relays at the World Relays in Yokohama, Japan. She also won the gold in Spitzen Leichtathletik and 26. midsommar – Charlottenburger-Mittsommernacht at 100m, and the silver in German Championships in Berlin at the same distance. At 4x100m relays, she had again a successful season winning the gold at Weltklasse, Letzigrund, Zurich and Berlin ISTAF.
However, the year 2020 was almost without activities due to the coronavirus pandemic and Gina Luckenkemper had just a few events. She won the gold at the Motonet GP in Finland at 100m
In her second Olympic Games, she failed to win a medal again. Gina Luckenkemper finished 5th at 4x100m relays with Germany.
