Garbine Muguruza qualified for the third round of the WTA 1000 Qatar Open

Garbine Muguruza qualified for the third round of the WTA 1000 Qatar Open after winning versus Sorana-Mihaela Cirstea with 2-0 (7:6, 6:1). The match lasted almost an hour and a half and the intrigue was only in the first set.

Garbine Muguruza won 70% of the 1st Serve Points and 57% of the 1st Return Points. Her 1st Serve Percentage was also high, reaching 73%.

The first set started with dominance for the Romanian player Sorana Cirstea, who took a lead with 0:3 and one break. The set was running in favor of her, until the 7th game when she gave 3 break points to her opponent, despite saving them, however, Garbine Muguruza won the game and equalized the score. The set entered into a tiebreak, which was won by the Spanish player with 7-4.

In the second set the total domination of the Garbine Muguruza was visible. Both players exchanged a break at the very beginning, but the Spaniard won the next 5 games and closed the set with 6:1.

Garbine Muguruza is the second player to qualify for the third round after Anett Kontaveit, who defeated Ana Konjuh by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) in the second round.

In the next round, Garbine Muguruza will face the winner between Victoria Azarenka and Madison Brengle.
