Garbine Muguruza and Elina Svitolina qualified for the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympics

Garbine Muguruza and Elina Svitolina continue their winning series at the Tokyo Olympics and qualified for the quarter-finals, just a step from the medals.

Garbine Muguruza eliminated Alison van Uytvanck with 2-0 (6:4; 6:1), while Elina Svitolina won the match versus Maria Sakkari by 2-1 (5:7; 6:3; 6:4).

Garbine Muguruza will face the winner of the match between Donna Vekic and Elena Rybakina, while Elina Svitolina will play versus Camila Giorgi, who eliminated Karolina Pliskova with 2-0 (6:4; 6:2).

Other quarter-finalists from today were Belinda Bencic, who defeated Barbora Krejcikova with 2-1 (1:6; 6:2; 6:3), Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who eliminated Sara Sorribes Tormo with 2-0 (6:1; 6:3), as well as Paula Badosa, who won her match versus Nadia Podoroska by 2-0 (6:2; 6:3).

The biggest surprise today came was Naomi Osaka, who lost from Marketa Vondrousova with 2-0 (6:1; 6:4).
